Artist Bio

Bibhusan Basnet and Pooja Gurung are based in Kathmandu, and have been working together for six years. Their first short film, The Contagious Apparitions of Dambarey Dendrite (2013), screened at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, the Tampere Film Festival, and the Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur, among others. It also won the Golden Comma for Fiction at the Alpavirama South Asian Short and Documentary Film Festival.

Dadyaa was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, and was presented a Special Jury prize for Cinematography. It had its world premiere at the 2016 Venice Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Venice Horizon Award for Best Short Film.  It was also been nominated for the Short Film Jury Prize at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival
