An unnamed figure picks up a young man in his car. As the two drive together, and settle into an austere rental house in the country, the details of their arrangement become guttingly clear.
CHAPERONE was nominated for the Short Film Grand Jury Prize at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
Sam Max is a writer, director, and producer working across film and performance. They are a recipient of the Lotos Prize, a resident of New Dramatists, and a playwright of Suhrkamp in Berlin, where their work is published in translation. They were named to 2018’s Young & Hungry List, tracking “Hollywood’s Top 100 New Writers. CHAPERONE is their first film.
